How can I stop this?

Y’all I need help for my chicks. I’ve been cooped up with my newborn and didn’t know what my chickens were up to for the past month (my husband has been taking care of them for me).
Some of the chickens are eating the other’s feathers! And it’s getting to a critical point.

Please leave a comment below, and let me know what you think!

Make sure they are getting the vitamins they need.

Check for lice and mites and treat. Separate any bullies. Feed a high protein poultry diet, such as grower, 22% or more. and also feed high protein snacks. If you have anything they can do to relieve boredom try that too

Mine do the same thing. We have 15 hens. I have 3 Black Stars that seem to be the feather pickers. They were all terrible looking all last summer until November and then they grew them all back and just within the past 2 weeks the chickens look rough again. The Black Stars are doing it to the Rooster too.

They may need extra protein as feathers are mostly protein so they might be eating the feathers to gain that extra protein in their diet
